The headline numbers
RATE is a photo rating app: you post a photo of yourself and real people rate it from 1 to 10, anonymously. Since the first counted rating on May 14, 2026, 134 people have given 5,775 ratings to 226 posts, and 184 of those posts have 10 or more ratings. Every number here is an aggregate; nobody is identifiable.
Here is the short version, before the charts:
- The average rating across everything is 5.42 out of 10.
- 21.4% of all ratings are an 8, 9 or 10.
- Men rate women 6.37 on average. Women rate men 4.48.
- Raters aged 21-24 are the most generous (6.00 on average). Raters aged 18-20 are the strictest (5.08).
- 33% of posts with 10+ ratings got at least one 1 and at least one 10, from different people.
How scores spread from 1 to 10
People use the whole scale. The most common score is 5 (865 ratings), with 4, 6 and 7 close behind. The ends are not empty either: 1 was given 676 times, more often than 9 (258 times), and 10 was given 395 times. A 10 is rarer than a 1 here, so when you get one, it was a real choice, not a reflex.

How do men and women rate photos?
This is the finding people ask about most. Men rating women give 6.37 on average, and 36.9% of those ratings are 8 or higher. Women rating women are kinder still: 6.83 on average, with 44.4% at 8+. Men rating men average 4.76. Women rating men average 4.48, and 43.4% of those ratings are a 1, 2 or 3.
Read this honestly, and kindly. It is what this community shows in October 2026, not a law of nature. The women's view of men rests on 975 ratings, fewer than the other pairs, and the community skews male, about 4 men for every woman. If you are a man and your score looks low next to the women's numbers here, part of that is the scale men are rated on. Compare your own posts with each other instead: the same audience rates both.
If you are a woman, your friends' praise may be sincere and still not the men's view: here women rate women higher than men do. RATE lets you choose who your score counts, so you see the audience you care about.

Which ages rate most generously
Raters aged 21-24 give the highest scores, 6.00 on average. The youngest group, 18-20, is the strictest at 5.08, even though it is the largest (1,885 ratings). Raters aged 25-29 average 5.34, and raters 30 and older 5.40. Why is anyone's guess; the gap itself is the finding, and it is why the age breakdown of your own results is worth a look: the same photo can land a point higher with one age group than with another.

Do more photos in a post help? No
A post on RATE holds up to 4 photos, rated together as one. You might expect more photos to give raters more to like. They don't: posts with one photo average 5.47, posts with two 5.55, posts with three 5.17 and posts with four 5.29. The differences are small, and they do not run upward. Most people post a single photo anyway (141 of the 226 posts).
The practical lesson: a post gets one score for the whole set, so stacking photos neither lifts the score nor tells you which photo did the work. To compare photos, post them separately: each post then gets its own average and its own breakdowns.

Same photo, opposite opinions
On posts with 10 or more ratings, a typical post's ratings spread about 2.2 points either side of its average (the average standard deviation is 2.16). And 33% of those posts got at least one 1 and at least one 10 from different people. One post in three was, to someone, the worst of the day and, to someone else, perfect.
This is the most useful number on the page if a single rating ever stung. One opinion of your photo tells you about one person's taste. A 1 from a stranger is not a verdict, and neither is a 10. That is why RATE shows no score until enough people have rated a post, and why the breakdowns by age, gender and country matter more than any one number.
How this data was collected, and its limits
Every number here comes from RATE's own database, pulled on October 29, 2026. We count only ratings that count in the app: every rater has a credibility score, and one-sided raters (always very low or always very high, far from everyone else) carry zero weight and are left out. Averages are weighted the same way. Demo and test accounts are excluded. Ratings run from May 14, 2026, the first counted one.
Keep these limits in mind when you read the charts:
- Small and young: 134 raters is a small community, and the numbers will move as it grows. We will refresh this page and show the new date.
- Skewed male: about 4 men for every woman, so women's opinions of men rest on fewer ratings (975) than men's opinions of women (2,160).
- Self-selected photos: these are reactions to photos people chose to post of themselves. They say nothing about attractiveness in general, and nothing about anyone's worth. Ratings on RATE are anonymous, and this page keeps them that way.
How RATE works
- Post up to 4 photosClear, recent photos of you. Every photo is checked before it goes live.
- Real people rate them 1 to 10Anonymously. No names, no likes, no comments. Just an honest number.
- See your score and who rates you highestYour average, plus breakdowns by age group, gender and country. Rate each other 8+ and it is a match.
Questions
What is an average attractiveness rating?
On RATE the average is 5.42 out of 10 across 5,775 counted ratings, and 5 is the most common score. A 5 or a 6 is normal, not a bad result.
Do women rate men lower than men rate women?
In this community, yes. Women rating men average 4.48, with 9.0% of ratings at 8 or higher; men rating women average 6.37, with 36.9% at 8+. It rests on 975 ratings from a smaller group of women, as of October 2026, so treat it as what RATE shows today, not a rule.
Does posting more photos help your rating?
No. Posts with one photo average 5.47, with two 5.55, with three 5.17 and with four 5.29. A post gets one score for all its photos, so post photos separately when you want to compare them.
How is this data collected?
From RATE's own database, as aggregates only: counted ratings (one-sided raters at zero credibility are excluded), from real accounts, since May 14, 2026, with credibility-weighted averages. The caption under each chart says when the numbers were pulled.
How often do people get an 8 or higher?
21.4% of all counted ratings are an 8, 9 or 10, and it varies a lot by who rates whom (see the chart above). When two people rate each other 8 or higher, it is a mutual match; 19 have happened so far.
