Rate people: real photos, real people, 1 to 10
Want to rate people? On RATE you rate real people's photos from 1 to 10, anonymously, one post at a time. Every score you give helps someone see how they come across, and helps your own photos get seen.
How to rate people on RATE
Open the For You feed and you see one post at a time: a real person, up to 4 photos, and a row of numbers from 1 to 10. Tap through the photos, pick a number, and the next post slides in. There's no skip button. To see the next person, you rate the one in front of you, so every post gets a real look instead of a fast swipe.
You can set the feed to women, men or both, so you can rate random people or focus on the people you're curious about. Your rating is one number for the whole post, so look through all of its photos before you decide.
Rate strangers honestly: how to give a useful score
A rating only helps if it's honest. The person on the other end wants to know how their photo lands, not to be flattered or punished. A few habits make your scores worth more:
- Rate the photo, not the person's whole life. You're reacting to one picture, so score what you see in it.
- Use the whole scale. If everything gets a 5 or a 10, your ratings stop telling anyone anything.
- Go with your first honest reaction. Overthinking tends to drag every number toward the middle.
- Never rate to hurt. A low score is fine when it's honest; marking someone down on purpose isn't.
What your rating means to the person you rate
Behind every post is someone asking a real question: how do I come across? Your rating becomes part of their answer, with no name attached. Rate others the way you'd want strangers to rate you: honestly, quickly and without cruelty.
That's also why one careless or spiteful rating matters less than you'd think, and an honest one matters more. A score only appears once enough people have rated, so the result reflects the crowd, not any single rater.
Why rating others helps your own photos
RATE works because people take turns: you rate others, and others rate you. Rating other people also helps your own photos get seen more, so if you've posted and you're waiting for your score, a few minutes in the feed is the most useful thing you can do.
It also trains your eye. After rating a few dozen posts, you start to notice what makes a photo work: the light, the angle, the expression, the background. That's free advice for your own next post.
Mutual 8+ matches, or "Match me with: No one"
Your ratings are anonymous: people never see who gave which score. A high rating is revealed in only two cases. If you rate someone 8, 9 or 10 and they rate you 8 or higher back, it's a mutual match and a private chat opens. And RATE Gold members can see who rated them 8+, so if you give a Gold member 8 or higher, they can see it was you.
Not here to meet anyone? Choose "Match me with: No one". You can still rate people, post your own photos, get rated and see your results. You just never match, and you can switch matching back on whenever you like.
Community rules for rating people
Rating strangers only works if everyone feels safe being rated, so the rules are short and strict:
- Honest ratings only. Rate what you see, not to boost a friend or sink a stranger.
- No comments. A number is the only feedback a photo gets, so there's no room for insults.
- No harassment in chats. If someone crosses a line after a match, block them and report it.
- 18+ only. RATE is for adults, and you give your date of birth when you sign up.
- Real photos only. Every photo is checked before it goes live: a real person's face, no nudity, no screenshots, no AI images.
- Report anything that breaks the rules from the post's menu. Accounts that break them can be warned, restricted or banned.
How RATE works
- Post up to 4 photosClear, recent photos of you. Every photo is checked before it goes live.
- Real people rate them 1 to 10Anonymously. No names, no likes, no comments. Just an honest number.
- See your score and who rates you highestYour average, plus breakdowns by age group, gender and country. Rate each other 8+ and it is a match.
Questions
Is there a website where I can rate people?
Yes. Open app.rate-app.com on your phone or computer, add it to your home screen and sign up. RATE works on iPhone, Android and computers, and it's also on Google Play.
Will people know I rated them?
No, ratings are anonymous. The exceptions are high ratings: a mutual 8+ match reveals you to each other, and RATE Gold members can see who rated them 8 or higher.
Is the people rating app free?
Yes. Rating, posting, matching and chatting cost nothing. RATE Gold is an optional subscription for people who want deeper analytics, their score sooner and a list of who rated them 8+.
Can I skip someone in the feed?
No. The feed only moves on when you rate the post in front of you. That's deliberate: everyone who posts gets a fair look. If a post breaks the rules, report it from its menu instead.
What happens when I rate someone a 10?
Like any rating, it's anonymous. If they also rate you 8 or higher, it's a mutual match and a chat opens. If they have RATE Gold, they can see you in their list of people who rated them 8+.
