Am I hot? The honest answer is a spread of opinions

"Hot" isn't a fixed property like height. It's a reaction, and reactions differ. Show the same photo to a hundred people and you'll get a range of scores: some love it, some shrug, and many land in between. That range is the honest answer to "am I hot", and it tells you more than any single number.

That's why one friend's "you're so hot" or one stranger's rude comment tells you so little. You need many independent opinions of the same photo, from people who don't know you and have no reason to flatter you.

Hot to whom? Why your audience changes the answer

Taste shifts with age, culture and place. A look that one age group rates highly can do less well with another, and a style that's in fashion in one country can read differently in the next. So "am I hot" really means "am I hot to the people I care about".

RATE builds that into your score. It counts the people you choose to match with, so if you match with men, your score is what men think. Your results then split the ratings by age group, gender, country and cultural background, so you can see where your photo lands best.

Same person, different photo: how much "hot" depends on the picture

Two photos of the same person can score quite differently. A dressed-up evening photo and a relaxed weekend one send different signals, and different raters respond to each. Neither one is the real you. Both are you, shown two ways.

So if you want to know how hot you come across, test more than one version, each as its own post: your going-out look and your everyday look, with and without glasses, with and without a beard. The pattern across your posts says more about you than any single score.

How hot am I? Reading your results

Your average is the middle of a crowd of opinions, so read it alongside everything else:

  • Look at how many people rated. More ratings make the average steadier, and RATE doesn't show a score at all until enough people have rated.
  • Find your best audience. If one age group or country rates you clearly higher than the rest, that's real information about who your look works for.
  • Compare your own posts. Your best post against your weakest shows how much of the score is the picture rather than you.
  • Don't chase a magic number. No score makes anyone officially hot. There are just more or fewer people, in more or fewer places, who like the photo.

People who rate you 8 or higher, and mutual matches

Ratings of 8, 9 and 10 are where "am I hot" turns into something you can use. When you rate someone 8 or higher and they rate you 8 or higher too, it's a mutual match and a private chat opens for the two of you. You both already know the other person likes how you look, so there's no guessing and no swiping.

Other high ratings stay anonymous, unless you have RATE Gold, the optional subscription that shows you who rated you 8+. And if you're only here for the feedback, set "Match me with" to "No one": you keep rating and getting rated, with no matches.

How pretty am I, and what a score can't measure

A rating is people's quick reaction to one photo. It can't see your humor, your voice, the way you listen or how a room changes when you walk in, and those are a big part of why people are drawn to each other in real life. A lower score than you hoped means that photo didn't land with those raters. It doesn't mean you aren't attractive.

If you want a better read, the easiest things to improve are light, angle and expression. Retake the photo facing a window, with the camera at eye level and a relaxed smile, and see how the new post lands.

How RATE works

  1. Post up to 4 photosClear, recent photos of you. Every photo is checked before it goes live.
  2. Real people rate them 1 to 10Anonymously. No names, no likes, no comments. Just an honest number.
  3. See your score and who rates you highestYour average, plus breakdowns by age group, gender and country. Rate each other 8+ and it is a match.

Questions

Is there a how hot am I test that uses real people?

Yes, that's what RATE is. Real people rate your photo 1 to 10 in their feed, anonymously, and you see your average once enough of them have rated. No AI scores your face.

What score means I'm hot?

There isn't a cut-off. A higher average means more of your raters liked the photo, and when you and someone rate each other 8 or higher, that's a mutual match. Your breakdowns matter more than any one number.

Can I see who thinks I'm hot?

Ratings are anonymous, with two exceptions. If you both rate each other 8 or higher, it's a mutual match and you see each other. And RATE Gold shows you who rated you 8+.

How do I know if I'm pretty?

You can't fully judge it yourself: the mirror flips you, and you remember your worst days. Friends are kind on purpose. The fairest read is many strangers rating the same photo, with the results split by who rated.

Is it safe to ask strangers if I'm hot?

On RATE there are no comments on photos, so nobody can leave a cruel remark, just a number. RATE is 18+ only, every photo is checked before it goes live, and a private account keeps your results to followers you approve.
